August is winding down and the prairie couldn’t ask for a better summer. Many say we were cheated out of June with the daily rain and temperatures that never topped 75. And then July was just normal old July hot and dry-ish. We were thankfully left out of the heat dome. Dry enough the weeds vibrant green started to fade under the dry light. Our August was truly summer. Temperatures rubbing against triple digits for a few days and then the rain returned every other day or so sometimes raining overnight which is truly novel in this country. The weeds and flowers perked up a bit and are almost green all over again. Yesterday we had a monsoon and were graced with those odd clouds which didn’t require a filter to look this otherworldly.
